San Luis Obispo County offers a wide variety of climates. North county cities such as Paso Robles and Templeton have higher temperatures averaging at about 80º. The warmer months temperatures are as high as 105º and in winter months about 65º.
As for the coastal communities like Pismo and Avila Beach the fog usually burns off mid-morning leaving the most beautiful clear skies with temperatures in the mid 70ºs. North coastal cities such as Morro Bay and Cayucos are slightly cooler.
Avila Beach has a micro-climate all of its own and one can usually count on sunny weather for most of the year.
Flora, Fauna & Wildlife
With the rolling hills of the Santa Lucia mountain range to the Pismo Dunes in Guadalupe you will find California’s best of untouched beauty. Yarrow, wild onion, toothwart, wild carrot and Chinese houses are just a few of the beautiful wildflowers that can be found.
Wildlife such as the roaming buffalo in Arroyo Grande, hills filled with cattle, goats, horses and sheep. Woodpeckers, Owls Hummingbirds and Eagles to name a few populate the Central Coast trees. One can enjoy whales, seals, Northern elephant seals, pelicans, cranes, egrets, and tide pool sea life anytime of year. |
